I recently stopped using MovableType and went back to a more user-friendly blogging platform (Blogger). Since I made that change, the www for my site will take you to the blogger blog, but omitting the www leads to my old blog (powered by MT, now abandoned).
I was trying to correct this by updating the htaccess file to re-direct the site to www and suddenly everything stopped working. I changed the htaccess file back to the way it was, but it still doesn't work.
Additionally, I cannot access via FTP (which isn't controlled by htaccess, so I'm not sure why this is). I have to use the hosting control center via GoDaddy, but still the changes don't seem to be taking effect.
I called tech support yesterday and they walked me through reverting the site back to the 'way it was' a few days ago and said it would take about 8 hours to restore. It's been more than 36 hours and there is no change, my site still only brings up an error message.
Any thoughts on whether I brought this misery upon myself by changing the htaccess file? Or can I just chuck the htaccess altogether? My site is a vanity site - it's just there to support my blog. There isn't any locked content or anything like that.
