Which is the best html editor? Which is the best html editor? For me Macromedia Dreamweaver is very good. However I do like PHP Designer 2006 which supports HTML coding and plenty more. Theres also many extended versions of Notepad for HTML which are good as well.

I use Notepad++. It's a text editor that is built for coding/programming. It supports quite a number of programming languages. If you need a preview of what's been coded so far, you could do so as well via it's Run>Launch in.. menu. I recommend this to all hard-coders. You may want to give it a try. ![]()

I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me and has seen the light in using Notepad++. Good on you wyatt! Hehe. More webmasters/programmers should take advantage of the fantastic concept of open source.

I actually use editpad lite. Notepad++ is also a good option. I don't like editors like dreamweaver as they always put some kind of code I don't want into the site. I like to be able to control all the HTML that goes into a site and dreamweaver/frontpage does not allow me to do that.

For most of my big sites I use XSite Pro. It does a great job of helping me manage everything. Super easy to backup and restore too. Easy to use but very powerful. I can hand-code quickly, but I usually use XSite Pro now because it's so much faster. For really quick things like eBay listings and one page sites I use Nvu. It's free, easy to use and does a good job of opening HTML templates. Sometimes I'll use XSite Pro for one page salesletters since they have some built-in templates I like and it's so easy to use them. For PHP and hand coding, I use Rapid PHP. Makes it easy to manage and upload big sites. Reasonable price, and there is a trial version so you can test it before buying. Much better than all the other PHP editors I tried. For quick, small jobs my favorite text editor is Crimson Editor. Free, fast, powerful. Has some really nifty features like user defined tools. Syntax coloring for nearly every programming language ever invented (users can easily create these libraries - and they do!). Check it out. Last edited by donna; 10-28-2007 at 10:20 AM.
