Well you can learn by lessons such as they one listed above, you can also learn the way I did. By looking at source code and playing with it from various sites over the internet it. This is not only a full hands-on approach to learning you can see as you work on it how simple changes occur.

I did what attagirl did.

I copied the source code from a webpage and played with it to try and figure out what it does, did and means. I think this will help in building on any of the tutorial/school sites mentioned above.

Plus I went to: http://www.web-source.net/html_codes_chart.htm to understand all the little code meanings so I could use them myself.

I'm no expert, but I can sure customize a page to fit what I want to do myself.

Send a message via MSN to webhostingUK
w3schools is the best and is most preferred also you can consider htmlguide.us, htmlcodetutorial.com, htmlgoodies.com and many more.

Getting code from other sites and re-editing them as per our need is also a good practice to learn but before this you need to know few basic tags.

There are many places where you can learn HTML and CSS but most of us like to learn HTML and CSS from http://www.w3schools.com/. I think no one can match the class of W3School. I learned HTML from there.

http://www.htmlgoodies.com/ is a good site for learning HTML, it's got a lot of primers and tutorials, as well as a few advanced tricks for doing HTML.

Heres a little live-HTML renderer thing I had on my old blog, try this out as well.
http://htmledit.squarefree.com/

Just be careful, it renders right away, so if you put in an infinite loop, it might crash.
