There are several websites on the internet which have tutorials on this language. You need a book to start off with though. Php anthology is a good book available in pdf format. It can be purchased at sitepoint.

I'll advise you to get a book such as "PHP for dummies" or "Beginning PHP" (wrox Publication). These books will teach you coding by examples and projects which is very helpful. There is a website w3schools where you can get free tutorials on any topic. For PHP it is http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

As far as online learning is considered I strongly recommend w3schools.com

Lol, at the comment about getting a book. I started 3 days ago, and consider myself a bit above a beginner.

But then again, i'm used to the syntax.

Besides, for help on my learning 'projects' I used www.dreamincode.net

They have a great tutorials section =]

If you want to learn PHP, I suggest going to php.net and reading the documentation there. PHP.net is by far the best reference for PHP and it also contains lots of code samples.

I suggest, based on my experience, that you look up tutorials for something that you want to achieve or create to get your feet wet, so to speak. For example, you want to learn how to create an email form in PHP, Google the term "PHP code email form". Download more than one code and disect it.

Now, if you don't even have the slightest notion of codes or syntaxes, try PHP.net first, and then proceed with my initial suggestion.

Good luck!

W3schools really is a useful site to learn PHP. Also PHP for Dummies will help you learn. You can also experiment by looking at some source code for some PHP scripts.

I used Web Monkey when I was first getting started teaching myself. They have a good range of tutorials starting at the basics. They are a little fun and zany too, which I like.
