What is a Cpanel?

A web designing company needs my cpanel and ftp to install a script for me. What is my cpanel and what is my ftp. How do I find it. Where do I look? I'm using Yahoo.

Howzit!!!

CPanel - control panel viewable from your hosting company's website. It allows you to view you statements, restrict access, delete certain files, etc from a GUI (graphic user interface)

FTP - File Transfer Protocol basically allows you to copy and upload your files to a webserve. It usally bears you domain name. It is accessable using your domain name.

Already answered your question... thank you!

You access your cpanel by typing in your domain name/cpanel like this:
http://yourdomainname.com/cpanel ... enter.
You will then get a screen asking for a username and password. These are supplied to you by your web host.
The same goes for FTP. You need the FTP address and a password and this is also supplied by your host.
Ring them.

Cpanel is a control panel tool as like you have for your pc or computer. With this Cpanel over here, you can control over your domain and hosting. It is the best worth for that.

It's an excellent control panel which makes everything a lot easier to deal with, you can also see your webstats, built in file managers, etc, it has everything you need

1.CPanel is nothing but a Control Panel for your website.

2.FTP that is, File Transfer Protocol allows you to upload your files to the web server.

Cpanel is your control panel(if you use cpanel). Generally you can get to it by /cpanel of http://yourdomain.com:2222 or something like that. Other options for control panels are directAdmin, ensim(which sucks), and plesk.

Check your hosting to find out about your cPanel. When the people installing the script access your cPanel, they have access to pretty much anything they want regarding your website. Many people will also want to access your cPanel when buying a website from you.

Yea, basically they would want to get your Yahoo login to check out like your MYSQL databases and so on and so forth.

Then your FTP so they could upload your files and documents for your website.
