Blog in Progress - please review

I've been spending time developing a blog about the community I live in, which has recently been subject to various media attention in the city I live in due to drug, crime and other poverty related issues. My objective was to engage people locally and city-wide with interesting content that would allow people to get a prospective from within our community that the newspapers may not reflect. I would also like to generate revenue on the site to support some of the struggling local non-profits. Please let me know what you think and also how anyone may think I could generate revenues with this sort of content ... I was having trouble picking affiliates that I thought would be relevant to the content ... thanks!!

The navigation on the left side is not easy to handle - so many links and stuff... maybe you should slimline it a bit.

use text=justify to make them look more professional...color combinations is excellent..also provide some more space in the footer

heavy content at main page ... hard to load bro ... maybe need reduce the number of post at main page !
