Question SEO

The way I learned to build a page was text with your key words needs
to be in your meta tags, on the top and through out your page and your
links also using your key words, just to make it basic.

So why is it the when I run the key word "lingerie" I see the top
sites with about 80% graphics on there pages and little text?

Or am I missing something here? What happeded to the SEO?

but theres some factors to rank in SERP aside from onpage optimization. I see a site before, forgot the url but its pure flash and yet it ranked well in search engine. the common answer is that is link popularity.. there link was to popular that they dont need contents to be able to rank to serp..

Maybe the images was also embedded by alt attribute. Spiders will not crawl images without text.

I believe that sites, which are on the TOP know one secret.

It only mean one thing, that your site is not yet well optimize to compete those very competitive sites using that keyword. For your information, to get rank well in search engines you have to consider a lot of aspects of SEO. In seo there are on page and off page optimization and apparently your site is nothing compare to others well optimized website.

Do you optimize web sites yourself or use anybody else for that?

If you can afford to spend money you can let an expert do the work but if you have some time to read about the topic you can figure it out yourself too I guess.

SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.

Its not possible to give a length of time to a question of how long will it take to get to number one, because there are too many factors to consider.
1. how long has your site been up / how long have your competitors
2. how much time will you spend carrying out seo
3. what level of knowledge do you have
4. how well optimised are the top sites
5. are the top sites continuing their optimisation
6. how good is the content being added to your site
7. where are the links pointing to your site coming from and how many
8. how good is your hosting/if its slow or you have a lot of down time, this will count against you.
etc.etc.etc
