What points about SEO do you think that people are missing, when you try to explain or answer questions about SEO and each of the search engines? Why do you think they miss these points and what have you done to try and get the point across better?

Well, most of the people try to beat the algorithm and get backlinks from quality sites. What they call quality sites are websites with high PR , but often you can get a better PR by getting a backlink from a site that is more relevant to it's own topic even if the PR of that site is less than the so called quality site. Moreover, in an attempt to optimize the websites , people are perhaps losing the original and simple way of rising on search engines- Get great content.

Agree with you on this one. I think they are concentrating too much on the things that are not the most important making it difficult for sites with good quality and useful information to fall behind.

I had one of my blogs rise the PR ladder with just 7 posts and absolutely no backlinks from any sites or blogs except for the social bookmarking sites. So, that to me is enough evidence that a few backlinks along with good content is enough to get Google to notice you and once you are there , usually, there is enough motivation to keep going.

That's amazing. Your blog must have really compelling content. But, yep, social networking sites like StumbleUpon does bring in targeted traffic and once people like your content, they refer others to it in forums, blogs, and other social networking sites.

A lot of people are so desperate to make money out of their websites that they forget how important it is to have great content on it, that certainly counts a lot!

I totally agree with that. More people seems to be asking how they can monetize their website rather how to make quality content. Some even wonder why adsense does not work for them without bothering to analyze their traffic.

yeah content is the key? people will just overlook a high pr site if those are without good content. I think most of us won't stay much to a site if that is not giving us the info we need.
