Search Engine traffic is one of the best kinds of website traffic. Targeted traffic is pre-qualified traffic that’s already interested in your website content. In other words, they see your site on a list of results because they were searching for information about the subject of your website.

I've tried to list out top strategies (not guarantees) that I have used with my own websites with success. To increase your site visitors’ leads and sales; implement these simple search engine techniques to rise to the top:

1. Select your domain name carefully

Use your keywords or a keyword phrases in your domain name. It creates brand awareness. Use these resources for your wholesale priced domain names. For example, if you're planning for "seo tips" keywords, you must have this keyword listed in your domain name... for example seotipsfromjane.com, seo-tips-expert.com, etc...

2. Design your website carefully

Website layout, header markups and html coding are very important factory for Search Engine Optimization.

2.1 Always design HTML validated websites

We strongly recommend to design http://validator.w3.org validated HTML validates. Search Engine prefers properly HTML marked websites.

2.2 Create a Top Notch Page Title

Title tags are key because all search engines give this tag a lot of weight. Put your keyword phrases evenly distributed into this tag. Don't use extra words linking, non-descript company name or home page. It should reflect exactly what your web page is about. Focus on using the keyword phrases people might be using in the search engine to find your company. I strongly recommend you to study what title tags beind used by Top Search Engine Results websites in your keyword category. Best recommended length for title is 200 characters.

2.3 Use Keyword Meta Tag Properly

If you simply create a web site and register the URL with the search engines, their spiders will visit your site, and attempt to index it. Each search engine operates slightly differently, and each one weighs different elements of a web site according to their own proprietary algorithms. Most of search engines consider keyword meta tag as useful guidelines to index your website. Each Keyword should be separted by ",". Try to use most variants of your keywords for better search engine optimizations.

2.4 Description Meta Tag

Some search engines will include the description below your title. Carefully choose 20 of your most important keywords and write a 200-500 character sentence about your site. Don’t just repeat your title but write with different keywords. Some search engines prefer just the description Meta tag and some will use both title and description tags.

2.5 Keyword Desity in your meta tags

Keyword density is important because search engines use this information to categorize a site's theme, and to determine which terms the site is relevant to. The perfect keyword density will help achieve higher search engine positions. Keyword density needs to be balanced correctly (too low and you will not get the optimum benefit, too high and your page might get flagged for “keyword spamming”).

Though I emphasis on meta tags.. you should be aware about this fact...

[So many engines now a days de-emphasized the meta-keyword tag due to the spam reasons. There was a time when 'SEO specialists' would fill up keywords tags full of your keywords and irrelevant informatoin. Website is selling garbage, but the keywords tags were full of irrelevant terms like "michale jackson" or "Britney Spears".

So today, to avoid and penalize this kind of abuse, many search engines don’t specifically use the keywords tag as part of the scoring of a site, but they monitor the keywords as guideline and to ensure they match the content in the site. When keywords tags are completely irrelevant to the content, some search engines, that don’t specifically use keywords tags, will penalize that web site.]

3. Working on BackLinks and search engine submission

It is now time to let search engines and world to know about your website. What if your website is excellent, but search engine has not crawled that? What if your website is crawled but not coming in top results? The answer is backlinks and search engien submisson. It is very important that you submit your website to all major search engines. Once your website is submitted, it will be crawled for indexing in 2 weeks to 24 weeks.

Now what is the most important factory that most SE's count for indexing yhour website in top 10 results? The only answer is Backlinks to your website. More backlinks from excellent ranked pages will bubble up your results in search engines. More and More backlinks will enhance your results in search engines dramatically.

4. Start purchasing backlinks from high pagerank & similar theme websites

Backlinks from high pagerank website are very important. High pagerank websites (websites with pagerank of 6 & above) are frequently (most of them daily...) visited by search engines. If the link is from similar theme website, your search engine position will ramp up very quickly.

Actually IBL is most important. You can make small changes in your web pages for SEO but you need good IBLs to get high ranking in SERPs for highly competitive keywords.

Good post, if I may correct you on a few issues.

Forget keyword tags, they are only useful for listing mis-spelt words/phrases

Title tags should be no longer than 65 characters, including spaces

You also fail to mention the key aspects of good SEO.

Meta tags should be fully optimised and compliment page content.
The best method of enhancing a website is to add unique content on a regular basis.

Finally the most important tip is in regards to SEO.

There is so much dis-information flying around forums, far more than factual information. People should only offer advice if there own websites are listed on page one of Google for very competitive terms and phrases. This way they have personally demonstrated they fully understand the fundamentals of SEO. This would cut down the amount of posts by 95%, however it would stop people taking notice of nonfactual potentially damaging information.

Still it was a good post, better than the average rubbish I read, however factually there was still a lot of dis-information in it.

If you look carefully at the results returned by Google Webmaster's tool, you can get an insight into how does Google look at your website. It tells you about the keywords that it finds in links that point to your homepage. It also tells you the keywords that it has found in your website. This result is extremely helpful in framing SEO strategy for your website.
