Hmmm, we offer a similar service... but we spin the articles to avoid getting penalised for duplicate content, and then only put up a set number of posts per week, so it looks more natural...

If I were you, I would ask him to do this at least, if he isn't willing then forget it... not worth it.

ALSO... you should consider that on most blogs, only the home page has PR... new posts appear on this page, and then go into archive later on... thats fine, but make sure your post will stay on the homepage for a month so you get your link juice!!! - if it only stays on for a few days, and google doesn't visit the site to crawl it in that time it has been a waste !!!

If you do go for this, you are better to go for a monthly service, it looks more natural, and so is less obviously an advert!!!

Mass article distribution has 2 main issues.

1. It is not that good for optimisation as the article will trigger Googles duplicate content filters, however it will be good for the other search engines.

2. If the article is well written and interesting, distributing it on many sites can drive traffic to a website

Good advice, all of this.

Google will find patterns, and flag what Google decides are unnatural patterns. Computers are really good at that.

You want to make sure that the articles are 'spun' in such a way that they still make sense and seem natural to a native English speaker.

The thing is that even if the price is right you can actually damage your reputation with Google by using an unnatural system (like suddenly getting 100 posts or links on the same day).

Answer you are looking for is NO, it is not a good idea. It is suicide in the SEO market place to take actions like this. You will do far more harm to your site then good. Some is ok, but not a lot.

Well, no ,it's not a good idea for the simple reason that the spiders will read them as duplicating content and will penalize the websites for the same. This penalty can range from a decrease of your PR , completely bringing it to 0 i.e gray pr to delisting your site on the search engine and you can't resubmit your site to them till the next six months thereafter. So, original content is the best way to go.

Hello...

Has anybody tried to use one of those free article sites? One submitted article (with the same links of course) has the chance to be published to a number of websites yet it is perfectly okay for the one who submitted (*and put his links) the article. However, for those who publish it, it's a different story since that's duplicate content.

The point is, if somebody offers me to publish one of my articles with inbound links in a hundred blogs with high PR for a reasonable amount, I'd jump on the chance. We could always tell the other fellow to publish it a few at a time so the links would look organic.

True. From what I've read Google looks at the whole page, including the surrounding template code. So what some publishers do to get around the duplicate content issue is to write their own introduction above the article and conclusion below the article. This in combination with their unique (hopefully) site template and the contents don't look so duplicate to Google. I can't really comment on the effectiveness of this technique because I don't publish articles from directories, but it's something to try for people who are worried about it.

I think it is a good thing, I mean, your website is going to be seen and read by people from all over the internet, and some of them will come back, so I'd go for it
