I have discovered these myself. Ignore it if you've already known.

To improve page ranking (PR) on Google, in just a few days. You'll need to have 2 things
1.Good site content
2.Incoming links from sites with high Page Ranking.

For the first, you need to DIY. When you build up a website. You may already know the purpose of your site. You may need lots of work to improve its content.

To have incoming links, just insert the link to your site in your signature, in all forums and community that you're taking part in. Most of sites have Google Ad on it (include this site).

That's all I want to let you know.

Pagerank depends on the quality backlinks of your site. It is Google's way to measure backlinks that are indexed by Google.

I agree with parusa608. It's not just the amount, although it is quite important, but rather the quality of these backlinks. Google prefers that backlinks come from sites that are related to yours. If you do not choose which sites link back to you, then it's all a waste. DO NOT go to link farms. Google will definitely ban you for that.

That's true, but a link from an unrelated PR10 website will still give you some nice Google juice. As long as the link isn't totally unrelated you'll be fine.

page rank is the way of google showing how popular your site is, and forum posting is one of the best way of building your backlinks.

Excellent original post -- I think most folks think that, by using a templated site, they will get traffic with lots of backlinks. The whole idea of search engines is that they provide relevant info to the user. It has to be fresh, reliable, and related to their search.

I think that you will find that you can compete with good keywords in you SEO focus. You will not compete with broad terms (stocks, credit, movies, pets). You will need to appeal to a niche that has not been exploited. Check your competition and see how and why they rank.
