help linking to database.

hello, I have a problem, probably very simple solution to some of you who read these threads.
I built a site using dreamweaver...I installed the developers edition of coldfusion 8 and set up mysql on my machine.

the site works fine in test conditions...i made all the record sets etc using the built in server and localhost.
the problem I am having is getting the site live....all non dynamic pages are displaying correctly, however all dynamic pages are displaying an error message.

I know that this is something to do with linking to localhost...I have the name of the webserver I want to connect to but cannot figure out how to do this, I read that its just a couple of lines of code but I cannot figure out what I am doing.

please help.
