Why are people on ask.com so mean to people who can't spell very well.?

I think that a lot of people that are precticing there english are writing here. Why can't we give people with poor spelling constructive advice.
The spell check does not always help, please be kind to each other.

I don't know why either. Even with my questions, people sometimes critize me because of my spelling, or any gramatical errors.

Some people just feel the need to let others down that way.

there are some who think they know the correct grammar to every word but let them just think that some people are learning how to spell words better on here so read on people and u have a great day i know that is not the way to spell u but oh well have a good one again.

some people can be very critical of spelling and grammatical errors because they don't actually have good answers for the questions. the whole purpose of this site is to ask and answer questions, not be spelling police. as long as the question is understandable it deserves a response that doesn't just criticize spelling.

some people spell improperly because they're lazy or trying to annoy people, but of course that's not always the case. they are usually very obvious and could be considered fair game.

Many people do not bother to use the spell check at all. You have three mistakes, and the spell check caught two (it missed "there"). This is simply laziness on your part. How can you ask people to help you if you don't do your best?

Others use invented spelling. Unconventional spelling makes it difficult for the writer to get his/her message across.

Poor spelling by one person does not justify unkindness by another. Also, I think most of recognize the difference between a non-native English speaker who is trying to do his/her best, and a lazy, uneducated native speaker.

Get your act together before you cry about how unfair others are.

I think people just get frustrated and assume that poor spelling means that people don't care. I know the spell-check doesn't get everything but it would certainly get a lot of the misspelled words.

Perhaps this particular topic encourages it. If you want to talk about words then maybe you should make sure you spell them correctly.

People are practicing their English, you can tell. I think they may get irritated because spell check is right above where you're writing before you submit, and even after you submit you have one more chance with the modify key. If you're learning English and practicing, then the spell check would help them out. There are more grammatical and sentence structure errors with people that are practicing.

Practicing English is laudable; however, spelling is (supposedly) a fairly basic skill, and many people feel impatient with those who are somewhat deficient in that area.
FYI: It's "their" English, not "there." And "practicing" with an "a."
Also, practicing denotes acceptance of corrections...otherwise, the mistakes will just keep coming. But there is a way to correct and quite another to harshly criticize.

Only the most anal critique minor mistakes. People are quick to criticize those who are not willing to put the minimal effort into writing an intelligent thought because poor grammar and spelling is hard to read. It shows disrespect to yourself and others not write intelligently.

Because people who can't spell are too lazy to spell words correctly. They make it too hard to read their posts or texts or whatever.

To be honest, it's usually late-teenage kids which do this, some seem to have the urge to just annoy the hell out of anyone which would come in. It gives them a hightend state of happiness, making them feel somewhat smarter.

Why? Because many people are jerks and they like to make themselves feel superior by making other people feel less. Its the way some people work at times. Also if you keep reading alot of misspellings, it does become very frustrating.
