besides submitting it directly to yahoo/google/etc, the best thing you can do is create a sitemap for your site and submit it to google.

yahoo will pick it up as well, and both will crawl your site based on the sitemap you provide.

I would recommend going to the search engines websites and looking for the submit url link that is supplied for each one. It will ask you for some information about the site and then tell you when that they will crawl your site.This can take up to 2 months on some search engines.
