Okay...I'll give you some extremely obvious answers:

Advantages: easy, quick access to information
Disadvantages: you get lazy and depend on the Internet

Like every other things in the world, Search engines Like YAHOO, GOOGLE and MSN also have disadvantages to go along with its advantages.
I think you must be aware of it's disadvantages, if you misuse net. Even if you don't, many others do and heres short summary of all.

The names you mentions, are one of the finest and best search engines on the the net. You can use them to find any(means anything if it exist in internet) information related web pages, pictures, news, updates you required(legal that is, otherwise you have to be more specific).
Because of this, one also easily access ****ography, download hacking tools etc .

That can't be helped. Everything can be misused in 1 or the other way. But Now these search also provide extra helping hand like, Google language translation, yahoo pop blocker tool bar etc.
