The Adsense website has a lot of information on how the program works and how you can earn money from it. Important pages include

Program Policies (Google kicks out publishers found generating invalid clicks so be sure to read these policies) https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48182
How much will I earn through this program? https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=9902
Optimization Tips https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/static.py?page=tips.html

In terms of earning money on Adsense, your mileage varies. One website with the 10,000 uniques a day can earn $50 a month while another may earn $5,000. It is not easy to predict how much you will earn from Adsense. The only way you can learn about how your site will perform with Adsense is through trying it.

The amount you can earn will depend on the

1. Responsiveness of audience to the ads = A travel website that provides information on travel to Spain will attract visitors looking for ways to arrange their travel and spend money on their vacation to Spain. Your site provides the info, but the ads will provide hotels, travel agencies, tourist destinations, car rentals -- ads that are likely to get the attention of the users of your site. This is a site that will most likely do well with Adsense. However, if you are a gaming website where the main purpose of the user is to play games on your site, then Adsense will not perform as well.

2. Ad format = some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In our case, large rectangles in the middle of the content is the best, while leaderboards do not generate as much as income. Skys are the worst for us. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

3. Ad placement - check Google's heat map as they have tested where the best placements are https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=17954&ctx=en:search&query=adsense +heat+map&topic=0&type=f

4. Ad colors - sometimes ads blended into the content works wonders, but sometimes ads that contrast your site colors work best

5. Number of ad units on a page = we are allowed maximum of 3 ads + 1 ad links + 1 search box on a page. Maximize the allowed number based on the resulting look of your page (you don't want an overkill of ads). Users going to your page and reading your content may ignore the banner or rectangle at the top of the page, but may click on the ad at the bottom of the article

6. Smartpricing - the big unknown in Adsense. No one knows how this actually works. But it can affect the pricing of the ads on your site. If the advertiser paid for $0.50/click - but your site is smartpriced - then the cost may be discounted lower (e.g. $0.25). So you may try to develop a site based on high paying keywords but if smartpricing gets to you, then you may not get as much per click as what you are expecting from your keywords.

Here is Google's explanation of smart pricing https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=9562&query=smart+pricing&topic=0& type=f

Google's smart pricing feature automatically adjusts the cost of a keyword-targeted content click based on its effectiveness compared to a search click. So if our data shows that a click from a content page is less likely to turn into actionable business results -- such as online sales, registrations, phone calls, or newsletter signups -- we reduce the price you pay for that click.

Experiment with the factors above (except smartpricing, which you can't control), and see which combination works best. Remember though that not all sites do well with Adsense - even if you get gazillions of traffic but your visitors are not interested in looking for ways to spend their money, they won't be interested in your ads and won't click.

Adsense works by pacing ads on your site that are contextually relevant with the content then when someone clicks on one of these ads you get paid a certain amount. The amount you earn will vary on what your posts on and what your CTR is. You should give this post a read if you want to make the most money from adsense on your site - http://azenz.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-to-increase-your-google-adsense.html

You could create your own websites and earn money by using Google Adsense on your websites. Registration with google is free.

If you got a website or a web-blog, you could make money with putting advertisements on your site (by google). If someone clicks on these ads, you will earn money.

If you don't have a website, you may start creating web-blogs (mostly free) with advertisements (google ads) on it.

WEBHOSTING

I have used single web hosting but now I got more than 50 websites and could not afford such hosting anymore. Now I am using multiple web hosting to handle all my websites in one account.

If you like to create many websites associated with one another, it is better for you to go for multiple hosting services. One of the best hosting service provider is

You may sell things at Ebay. Some people do business with Ebay and they just live on income from ebay. You may like to look at it.

You can make money with adsense that’s true, but how? Every time someone clicks your adsense Google gets paid and Google will share a portion of their income to you for helping them advertise. It’s not that easy. Here’s a site that can help you.

Create as many sites as possible. This is my first strategy since if you put all your efforts in one or two sites and then they stop receiving traffic from the engines, you'll be in problems.

Good Luck.

Adsense is one of the easiest ways to monetize a website or blog. Making enough money to quit your day job with adsense is another story... actually the subject of many, many internet marketing books.

But if you are just starting in internet marketing I do recommend adsense, because it's so simple, and free. It's an easy entry into making some money back from your effort. After that you can work on optimizing to earn more from adsense or try something else, but it's a good entry to IM.

Good advice from diegoid - best to have lots of websites covering a variety of niches if adsense is going to be a major part of your income. Don't worry too much if this is your first time though - just get it up and running on one site and then try to optimize it for better results.

So how do you start?

1. Make sure you have good, original content on your site. Content that is useful to people in your targeted niche.

2. Go to the Google Adsense website and sign up. Read the instructions for publishers and put the code on your website. (see post by ldcdc above). If you site is a Wordpress blog there is a great plugin called 'Adsense Deluxe' that you should get and use. Makes it so much easier.

3. Look at the Google heat maps and try to place ads in the 'hot spots' on your site.

4. Generate traffic to your site - otherwise the rest will be pointless.

5. Sign up for a free account at Crazy Egg. Place the code on your home page and 3 other pages that get a lot of traffic. Wait a week and then go look at the heat maps that crazy egg creates to see which of your adsense blocks get the most clicks - and just as importantly which get few to no clicks. You could wait another week and see what the results are. Then ditch the ad blocks that get little to no clicks and, now that you have freed up some of your adblock allocation try something different. Different locations and/or different ad formats. Keep a journal of dates, changes you made and the results.

Now you want to work at continually optimizing these 3 things:

1. The ad formats and ad placement positions. You want to get the most clicks per visitor as you can, obviously because that's what makes you money. Be sure you read the Adsense TOS and adhere to it - don't do anything that violates the TOS or you risk having your account banned. Whatever traffic you have, optimizing your click through rates will earn you more money per visitor.

2. You want to work at getting more targeted traffic to your site (i.e. more visitors of the sort that are actually interested in your topic). Whatever your conversion rate is (the percentage of clicks you get per page view), the more visitors you have the more money you should make in theory.

3. Keywords - work to optimize your ad relevance, so the Adsense ads on your site are 'on topic' and visitors are more likely to be interested in the ad offers and therefore click on the ads. Optimize the niche (topic) of your site and the keywords you use in your articles - looking for high paying keywords. The more Google gets every time an ad is clicked - the more they pass on to you.

These are the things that will make you money with adsense and increase your earnings. Any one of these on it's own will increase your earnings (assuming you already have some traffic to your site), but optimizing for all 3 will give assure you are earning the most you can from each site.

Use Google's Adsense channels to help you see what ad formats and locations are getting the best click through rate. Use Crazy Egg to see where people are clicking. If something works, do more of that. Always try to beat your best performing ads.

I just got an email for this WSO for free high paying keywords - check it out. If your niche is in one of these areas try using some of these keywords as a basis for new articles and see how well the related ads earn. I've not checked it out this offer myself so I can't vouch for the accuracy or value of it.
