Ranking always change. if you want to maintain it at least at top ten, then you must to continue building links.

In case your site goes downward start putting fresh content in your site as search engine always looks for fresh content.

Agreed! Every two or three months I have to go through and add a bunch of new links to keep my sites in the front pages. It's a lot of work, but you have to keep running just to stay where you are.

yes, a continuous process of building backlinks and fresh contents are needed in order for you to maintain your rankings. 2 days makes a big difference. it will drastically fall of from the top.

You have to maintain your link building for your website, and the down fall of rankings in google is regularly happened by google. Its just because some of the google data centers has been disabled for their regular updates of algorithm.
