SONY VAIO warranty

I bought a SONY VAIO VGNCR240E in November 2007, so I would have a computer while I was in Iraq to communicate with my family and to watch DVDs during down time. Shortly after I bought it, about mid-February 2008, about the right third of the monitor started displaying weird vertical lines and was sometimes black. I found that if I pinched the top right part of the frame around the screen, the lines would go away, so I assumed it was a short. I contacted SONY and they told me that I needed to download the updated drivers, which I found odd since it worked if I pinched the top of the screen, but they are the "experts". After that didn't work, I figured that since there is a one year warranty, I would send it in to get it fixed. In order to find out how to get it fixed, I had to be able to read the screen. I decided to attach a black "clam" paper clip to the the top of the screen that made it work so I could read and type at the same time. The clip scratched the paint, and for that reason, when I sent it in to SONY, they would not cover the repairs. They wanted me to pay over 700 dollars to repair this defect. I recommend to anybody out there to not buy SONY. I am not saying that this is an inferior product, but if you do happen to get a defective one, good luck getting them to accept the fact that there was a flaw and they should fix it. This company offered the worst technical and customer support I have ever experienced, and I won't buy a SONY product ever again. Maybe they aren't used to problems with their computers, but if you can't back your product, then I won't buy it, and they proved that they don't back their product.

even if you had scratch it a little the defect are inside the screen. i think you just needed to contact your other sony customer service and report this incident to higher management im sure there is still a way for you to fix that without paying them...and maybe for that sony maybe would probably give you a new one..

well if the customer service is not good i think you can go back to the store where you bought it, it sounds silly however i think this is the best way..
