Why Study Literature?

I think there is more to it than leisure. There is definitely more to it within the English major as students are expected not only to study literature itself but to study it within certain paradigms (critical theory, reader response, psychoanalytical, marxist, etc.) and to look carefully for certain themes, social implications, etc. There is certainly a leisure aspect to literature but there is also a methological one that can make it seem like a science.

ahmm it helps our mind to read and understand that is written in the paper or books..
because we need it..especially if you are going to sign a contract in work..

For me it's kinda intresting studying literature because I really love to read books and I want to know a lot about our historical background.

Why study literature? Good question.. Literature gives us a simple enjoyment. If you are a type of person that really likes literature, then you will agree with me.. There is beauty in Literature..

Literature give us opportunity to realise the ways of life of people who liveв centuries ago. If History gives us the picture of epoch - the literaturwe gives us one aspect of it but more detailed.

Literature and reading itself develops our personality and teaches us some things, like moral, honour and nobleness.
