Iphone launch date and retailers?

can anyone tell me if the iphone will be available on contract, when? or how much to buy for pay as you go? i so want one, looks the part!

Last I heard, it was only due to be released near the end of the year. Also, I heard that it is going to be extremely expensive. You will only be able to get it on the very higher contracts.

around Summer '07... Available thru Cingular with a 2-year contract.. price is about 400-500 or something like that..

It's not been announced so this is *PURE CONJECTURE*:

a) It'll be quite expensive (my guess is around 350 to 400 quid)
b) It'll be out in Q4 2007 or Q1 2008
c) Vodafone and T-Mobile are the most probable recipients of the product exclusive since both have heavy ties in europe (why affiliate with a network just for the UK when you can hit all of europe with one stone?) - the only difference is that vodafone is a 'premium' (read: reliable) carrier and t-mobile is a 'consumer' (read: crap) provider.

disclosure: I was once on vodafone and am now on T-Mobile. I want to go back.
